Ceremonies of Family is a growing collection of poetry that peels back the layers of a family’s most intimate moments. These poems are river rock — smooth in their testament to the violent forces that created them.

An unflinching look at abuse, racism, and death, this collection also speaks to the tender tomorrows that must follow.

Readers are encouraged to take a stronger look at their own families to start the work of mending what can be healed and letting go of what must remain in ruin.
